 PROJECT FINANCE
 SIDC invests in projects which are:
  • technically feasible
  • financially and economically viable
  • soundly managed
 SIDC gives priority to projects which will:
  • provide permanent employment
  • generate or save foreign exchange
  • utilise local resources and increase the value added in production
  • transfer appropriate technology and upgrade manpower skills
  • encourage linkages with existing industries

SIDC normally provides equity and loan finance up to an overall financial involvement of 50% of the total project cost.

SIDC may take up a minority shareholding in the capital of a new company of up to a maximum of 35% but will not normally participate in its management.

SIDC offers medium and long-term loans denominated in local or foreign currency of up to 10 years for the acquisition of fixed assets which may include a grace period in accordance with the project's financial requirements. SIDC accepts various forms of security for its loans

 APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Investors interested in establishing a business in Swaziland
should submit their proposals to SIDC.

In general, the proposals should include the following information:

brief description of project and prospective investor

Applicant
background information on the company including ownership, directors and management as well as relevant financial references

Investment Items
1.  land area required and preferred location
2.  building requirements
3.  description of production process
4.  ist of machinery requirements
5.  working capital requirements

Financing
cost of investment
proposed financial equity and debt financing

Management and Labour
managerial skilled and unskilled labour requirements
proposed wages and salaries
number of expatriate staff proposed

Production and Marketing source and cost of raw materials
water, sewerage and electricity requirements
price, quantity and quality of manufactured output
market location, size and expected growth
marketing and distribution considerations

Financial Projection
detailed profit and loss and cash flow projections
internal rate of return and break-even analysis

After the above has been assessed, a thorough project assessment is undertaken where viability, marketing etc are considered.

 INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY

SIDC offers factory space for lease by investors and may erect new industrial buildings for investors.

SIDC industrial buildings include a modern Factory Park and represent 70,000m2 of factory space with shells ranging in size from 400m2 to 7,000m2.

SIDC offers lease terms at competitive rates based on the prevailing market situation.

SIDC factories are located in fully serviced industrial areas with well developed infrastructure mainly at the Matsapha Industrial Estate.

SIDC actively promotes projects by making available practical experience gained from its existing investments in the various sectors of the Swaziland economy.

SIDC assists investors in their project appraisal with a view to making sound investment decisions.

SIDC offers assistance in identifying local or foreign joint venture partners for projects in Swaziland as well as technical know-how partners through international channels.

SIDC's professional team of highly qualified and motivated specialists in project promotion and financing stands ready to assist investors in advancing their project proposals.

SIDC is the antenna for the Centre for the Development of Enterprise (CDE) in Swaziland, providing further advice and funding from international sources.
